Exposure 3 Processing

So you where one of those who’d like to know how I process my photos?
I made a special screencast that shows you how I processed my latest photos from San Francisco that I posted earlier last week. I’ve chosen to use Exposure 3 from Alien Skin to process these series of photos because this plugin will add that special film look to your photos, and in my mind Film=Retro & Retro=San Francisco.

What about your special actions? I still use them but you can be so creative with a plugin that gives you hundreds of pre installed processing options. Just watch the screencast and you’ll see what I mean because I don’t use the simple 1-click apply and save option. This is a simple example of what you can do, normally I can spend hours on one photo with masking / blending / adding and removing different layers.

Here are 3 thumbnails that show u the difference between the processing techniques. The first photo is the original SOOC, the second one is the photo with a simple 1-click apply and save option, and the third photo is the one that has multiple processing layers.

Feel free to leave comments or ask questions if you’re having trouble.

Here’s the screencast, be sure to set it to the 720P mode to get a clear video.

Florence - Is the vedio still available?
I fail to see it, perhaps due to youtube being blocked here.

devetpan - Hi Philipp.
Thank you for being honest, I know exactly what you mean but I’ve got to start somewhere with my tutorials and I thought this was a really simple start for those who aren’t familiar with photoshop and plugins.. More detailed tuts are on their way ;)

Thanks for stopping by!

phil - Hey Siebe,
to be honest, i really like your pictures and how you process them, also the idea of showing other people how you process your stuff is kinda cool and really kind, i mean there not many people who share their knowledge how to make pro looking stuff. But this tutorial was just a fast makeover how you created one of your pictures, nobody knows what exactly you are doing. In addition to it people need exposure 3, which is not free.

It`s as useless as ISAYX`s new Blog on which he shows people how to add noise. Even my 15 year old sister can use noise or use a plugin and play around with it.

I for myself am rather interested in how you usually process and take your pictures to get that creamy look or just “kinda”.

if you want people to check your Blog and tutorials, show them GOOD stuff.

Thanks for reading, appreciating your work, fan and young photographer from Switzerland,
philipp

lizet - Fijn muziekje op de achtergrond! :D
Handige uitleg, ik ga eens die site bekijken met de plugins…
Wel grappig, ik gebruik wel eens actions, maar meestal op de manier hoe jij het ook doet… mix&match & met eigen toepassingslagen en aanpassingen… Tzijn toch handige dingen :)

devetpan - I’m not always using a plugin Ilja, I mostly use it when I’ve to edit a whole series of photos.

Felix - I really like your work. But I hoped, that I can see some of your photoshop skills as I read about this post. But it’s “just” using a Plug-in. But Hey. It’s OK.

P.S. Can you tell me what music is playing there?

Ilja - Hei,

Really great post. Really like how you’re doing your pictures. But you always using plugins or this is just a review?
